Replica a questo | per chi fa picking,vi consiglio di guardare attentamente oggi ANET dopo la trime di ieri sta a -16% in pre market per me ottima opportunita di acquisto (io entro a scalare oggi poi 240 e terza tranche 220 se mai ci andra) scende non perche i conti siano brutti o perche la guidance sia brutta ma semplicemente per il classico buy the rumor sell on news...basta guardare il grafico e vedere che si è sparata 40$ sull attese della trime che si pensava essere stratosferica (e lo è),è la principale rivale di CISCO e nonostante abbia un architettura cloud nettamente migliore capitalizza una frazione di CISCO,nonostante stia,trimestre dopo trimestre,rubando fette di mercato a cisco...infatti da due anni ogni trime è un +20% :-) io l avevo presa qualche mese fa a 173 e rivenduta (troppo presto) a 274...anche se ora sta sotto il mio livello di exit :-)
DEUS guardatela!!un gestore non puo non aver nel suo ptf un tank del genere..:-) |

1) The 55-day moving average
It's at 2716 today and a close above would be another modest positive sign for US stocks.
2) The Feb 7 high
The spike higher on Feb 7 came before the rout to the February lows. It's at 2727, which is very close to spot. Climbing higher is a good sign but a close above this level would be even better.
3) the 61.8% retracement
If the S&P 500 can get above 2743 it would be a sparking sign, especially if it comes on a close before the long weekend. It's going to take some work but the index is already up 8 points from the opening lows. |

US stocks are outperforming most of the world
The supposed trigger for the crash in US stocks was worries about US wage inflation after non-farm payrolls. I don't like that explanation for a lot of reasons and think that nonsense in the VIX market was at least part of the story, along with the regular rush of lemmings.
In any case, Ryan Avent from The Economist makes a good point: US stocks are outperforming.
The S&P 500 is up 2.4% year today. Compare that to:
Nikkei -4.6%
Euro stoxx 550 -2.4%
FTSE 100 -5.3%
Another part of the story is the currency. When you adjust for the dollar drop, global stocks are performing along the same lines, but the US is still out front.
At the end of the day there's not going to be any clear, easy or logical explanation for the stock drop so maybe it's time to move on. |

JP Morgan says that rising inflation is actually good for stocks
Well, this is one of the more contrarian views out there and certainly one that gives more perspective on what the other side of the story could be.
Matejka argues that fears about rising inflation and wage growth crimping corporate profits are way overblown. And that it is the outlook for both production and sales volumes rather than higher wages that determine the impact on profitability.
Matejka also mentions that he doesn't expect weaker growth any time soon in any case, and says that "investors should only sell when production and revenue growth begin to disappoint".
His stance of being bullish on stocks remains, citing that the asset class "provides a natural hedge against inflation" by producing nominal earnings and sales growth. The note also mentions that equities tend to produce their best returns with inflation between 1 and 3 percent, which is what JP Morgan is forecasting currently.
To some extent he's not wrong at the moment, equities have took a hit in the wake of the recent concerns on inflation and rising wages, which was reflected in bond yields, but has since bounced back in impressive fashion.
But of course, this is one viewpoint to look at things, and it may not be what the market sees. However, always good to have two sides to everything. Otherwise, we'd have no market at all. |

Blackrock's strategist Turnill upgrades US equities on earnings momentum
Moves to overweight from neutral
Blackrocks strategist Richard Turnill is upgrading the US equities to overweight from neutral on very strong earning momentum.
The number of US companies getting upward earnings revisions outpaces those getting downward adjustments by a ratio of more than 2 to 1. That is the highest on record going back to 1988
Enticed by earning growth that should result from the tax cuts
They are neutral on European stocks due to earnings momentum lagging other regions and EUR strength.
US stock markets are closed in observance of President's Day. |
